Bruins Endure Elements, Sit in Third After 36 Holes

ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Playing through cold temperatures, steady rain and gusting winds, the Bruins maintained contact with the top spot and sit just five shots back of the lead heading into Sunday's final round of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational. UCLA shot a 7-over 295 at the Lakeside Course on Saturday and is at 4-over 580 after 36 holes. The Bruins are five strokes behind first-place Duke (-1, 575) and two behind second-place Texas A&M (+2, 578).
Junior Eddy Lai had no problems with the weather conditions, tying for the lowest round of the day with a 3-under 69. He made five birdies on No. 1, 4, 8, 9 and 17 and just two bogeys. Lai is tied for third at 3-under 141 and only two strokes back of the individual lead (William Paysse, Texas A&M, -5, 139).
Sophomore Bryan Wiyang Teoh is tied for fifth following an even-par 72 on Saturday and is at 2-under 142 through two rounds. He made four birdies (No. 8, 11, 14 and 17) and four bogeys. Junior Devon Bling is tied for 19th (+2, 146), shooting a 4-over 76 on three birdies (No. 4, 7 and 9), three bogeys and two doubles. Freshman Mason Greene, playing as an individual, is tied for 25th (+3, 147), recording a 2-over 74 on two birdies (No. 1 and 9) and four bogeys. Senior Hidetoshi Yoshihara is tied for 48th (+7, 151), notching a 6-over 78 on two birdies (No. 11 and 15), four bogeys and two doubles. Sophomore Sean Maruyama is 72nd (+13, 157), making one birdie on the first hole in a 10-over 82.
The Bruins begin the final round on Sunday at 10:50 a.m. ET/7:50 a.m. PT, going off the first tee in the order of Maruyama, Yoshihara, Bling, Teoh and Lai. Greene starts on hole No. 10 at 9:20 a.m. ET/6:20 a.m. PT.
