CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - The second-ranked Bruins scored seven unanswered runs to knock off No. 4 Oklahoma, 7-1, while going late into Friday night and Saturday morning to mercy-rule Missouri by a score of 11-3 in six innings.

Against the Sooners (10-2), UCLA (10-0) got a complete-game, four-hit performance from redshirt junior Rachel Garcia. She tied a season high with 15 strikeouts, allowing just one run and two walks. Garcia struck out the side in the second, sixth and seventh and two apiece in the third and fourth, adding 1-2-3 frames in the first and seventh. At the plate, the Bruins had eight hits from six different players, as sophomores Briana Perez and Kinsley Washington both had two-hit contests.

Oklahoma struck first in the top of the second on a solo homer by Fale Aviu, but the Bruins got a clutch, two-out hit in the bottom of the third to take the lead for good. With one out, Washington, freshman Kelli Godin and Perez had successive infield singles. One out later, redshirtย sophomore Aaliyah Jordan stroked a double to right-center to clear the bases to make it 3-1.

The Bruins added three more in the fourth. Senior Taylor Pack reached on an error to open the inning and freshman Colleen Sullivan walked, with senior Stevie Wisz running for Sullivan. One out later, Washington singled through the 3-4 hole to bring in Pack to make it 4-1. Following another out, Perez singled to right to plate Wisz and Washington to extend the lead to 6-1.

In the sixth, junior Bubba Nickles extended her hitting streak to 21 games with a solo homer to left, her fifth bomb of the season, to make it 7-1.

In game two versus Missouri (8-4), the Bruins (11-0) had 14 hits from 10 different players, as Garcia, Jordan, Sullivan and senior Brianna Tautalafuaย all had two-hit performances. Freshman Megan Faraimoย struck out nine in six innings of work, giving up three runs (one earned) and five hits. She had 1-2-3 innings in the first and second, three strikeouts in the second and two in the fifth.

The Bruins scored twice in the bottom of the first, as Perez led off with a single, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored when Nickles extended her hitting streak to 22 games on a triple to right. Two outs later, Pack singled to left to bring in Nickles to make it 2-0.

Missouri took the lead with three in the third, but the Bruins matched those three runs in their half of the inning. Garcia reached on a one-out error and Washington reached on a two-out error, with Sullivan following with a single back to the pitcher to bring in Garcia to equal things at three. Tautalafuaย then tripled to right to score Washington and Sullivan to make it 5-3 UCLA.

In the fifth, the Bruins scored another unearned run, as Sullivan doubled to right-center with one out and came home when Tautalafua reached on an error.

In the sixth, UCLA brought in five to invoke the mercy rule. Loading the bases after Nickles reached on an error and Jordan and Garcia getting on via infield singles, Nickles came home when junior Jacqui Prober reached on an error to make it 7-3. An infield single by Washington plated senior Danae Blodgett, who was running for Jordan, to increase the lead to 8-3. An RBI grounder back to the circle off the bat of Sullivan drove in Garcia to make it 9-3, while a Tautalafuaย single to left scored Prober and Washington to finish off an 11-3 victory.

The Bruins are back in action later on Saturday afternoon against Nebraska (3 p.m.) and Kentucky (5:30 p.m.).
