
Bruins, Murphy Post Solid Third-Place Finishes at ASU Thunderbird Collegiate

PHOENIX - The Bruins finished up the regular season on Saturday at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate, posting a third-place showing at the Papago Golf Course. On an individual note, senior Patrick Murphy tied for third with a 54-hole score of 6-under 207.
UCLA had the second-best team score on the course on Saturday with a 6-under 278 to finish at 7-under 845.
Murphy fired a 4-under 67 in his final round, making five birdies (No. 1, 5, 9, 12 and 15) and one bogey.
Senior Cole Madey tied for eighth at 3-under 210, shooting a 1-over 72 on Saturday. He made three birdies in a row on the 12th, 13th and 14th, two bogeys and a double. Junior Hidetoshi Yoshihara tied for 28th (+2, 215), notching a 1-under 70 in round three on five birdies (No. 5, 6, 9, 12 and 18), two bogeys and a double. Sophomore Eddy Lai tied for 34th (+3, 216), shooting a 2-under 69. He made five birdies (No. 1, 5, 6, 9 and 15) and three bogeys. Senior Jack Ireland tied for 41st (+5, 218), recording a 2-over 73 on two birdies (No. 1 and 13) and four bogeys. Freshman Sean Maruyama, playing as an individual, tied for 72nd (+16, 229). He made two birdies on the fifth and 13th, two bogeys and two doubles in a 4-over 75.
Next up for the Bruins are the Pac-12 Championships (April 22-24), which will be held in Eugene, Ore. at the Eugene Country Club.
