NFCA and Softball America All-American Teams Announced

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -ย A total of six Bruins were recognized on the NFCA and Softball America All-American teams on Wednesday. Redshirt junior Rachel Garcia was named Softball America Player of the Year, as well as First Team NFCA and SA All-America. Junior Bubba Nickles picked up Softball America First Team and NFCA Second Team All-American accolades, sophomore Briana Perez was named to the Softball America First Team, freshman Kelli Godin earned SA Second Team honors and senior Taylor Pack and freshman Megan Faraimo were recognized on the Softball America Third Team.

Garcia picked up her third NFCA All-American award after earning First Team in 2018 and Second Team in 2017, while Nickles received her first NFCA All-American honor. This year marks the first season of the Softball America All-American awards.

Garcia, the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year for the second season in a row, as well as the first to ever be named Pac-12 Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year in the same season, leads the Bruins with a 1.01 earned run average, a 24-1 record, four saves and 253 strikeouts in 166 innings. In 31 appearances and 20 starts, she has 15 complete games and six solo shutouts, holding opponents to a .153 batting average. At the plate, Garcia is batting .344 with nine home runs, ranking third on the team with 49 runs batted in. She is also first with 30 walks and four sacrifice flies, adding nine doubles.

Nickles, who was also named NFCA All-West Region and All-Pac-12 First Team, tops the team with 16 home runs and 69 runs batted in, ranks second with 59 runs scored and a .716 slugging and third with a .395 batting average, a .463 on base percentage and 11 doubles. Nickles enters the WCWS tied for fifth in the nation in RBI, tied for 20th in total bases (136), tied for 22nd in runs, tied for 25th in hits (75) and tied for 39th in homers.

Perez, an NFCA All-West Region Second Team, All-Pac-12 First Team and Pac-12 All-Defensive Team selection, leads the Bruins with 65 runs scored and is second with a .397 batting average, 21 stolen bases, five sacrifice hits and three sacrifice flies, adding five homers, 41 RBI and 10 doubles. She is tied for 10th nationally in runs scored and tied for 25th with 75 hits.

Godin leads the Bruins in batting average (.446), on base percentage (.500), stolen bases (23) and sacrifice hits (6), while also ranking ninth in average and tied for 39th in on base nationally. She is also third with 43 runs scored, adding 13 runs batted in. A Top 10 finalist for the NFCA Freshman of the Year award, Godin was also NFCA All-West Region Second Team, All-Pac-12 First Team, Pac-12 All-Freshman and Pac-12 All-Defensive.

Faraimo, the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, was also a Top 10 finalist for the NFCA Freshman of the Year, as well as NFCA All-West Region and All-Pac-12 First Team. She is 16-4 on the season, with a 1.42 earned run average and 143 strikeouts in 113 innings. In 26 appearances and 21 starts, Faraimo has 11 complete games and six solo shutouts, holding opponents to a .165 batting average. She has also tossed a pair of no-hitters.
