LINCOLN, Neb. -ย Junior Mac May was a dig shy of a double-double with 12 kills and nine digs, while redshirt freshman Lexi Hadrych saw her first collegiate action, totaling eight kills in two sets, but the Bruins dropped a three-set decision to No. 2 Nebraska on Saturday at the Devaney Sports Center.

Sophomore Devon Chang had 17 assists and six digs, sophomore Kelli Barry posted seven digs, senior Savvy Simo added six digs, junior Jenny Mosser notched five digs and three kills and redshirt freshman Tristin Savage recorded four blocks and three kills.

The only lead for the Bruins came after the opening point after redshirt sophomore Emily Ryan recorded a kill. Nebraska came back with 13 of the next 17 to go up 13-5. Four in a row for UCLA on a Ryan solo block, a May kill, an ace from sophomore Hawley Harrer and a Husker attack error cut the deficit to four at 13-9, but that was as close as the Bruins would get for the rest of the first, as Nebraska won by a score of 25-12. May and Savage each had two kills, May added four digs and Simo posted three digs.

Nebraska led wire-to-wire in set two in a 25-16 victory. May had five kills and four digs in the second, Hadrych added three kills and Barry recorded three digs.

The Bruins were down 8-4 in set three, but four in a row on a kill by Hadrych, a combo block from Chang and Savage, a Savage solo stuff and a May kill evened things at eight. However, UCLA was unable to have a lead in the third set, as Nebraska won the third by a score of 25-19. Hadrych and May both had five kills in the third, while Chang added five digs.

The Bruins are back in action on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Long Beach State, taking on Georgia at 6 p.m.
