BRUINS TRAVEL SOUTH TO LBSU MIZUNO CLASSIC
The UCLA women's volleyball team heads down the 405 Freeway this week for the Long Beach State Mizuno Classic at the Walter Pyramid. The Bruins will play three times in as many days, starting Thursday against Georgia (6 p.m.). UCLA faces Texas State on Friday (5 p.m.) and concludes the weekend against Long Beach State (7 p.m.) on Saturday. Thursday's match will feature free live audio on UCLABruins.com, while Saturday's contest will feature a free live video stream courtesy of LBSU. WHAT'S NEXT?
The Bruins travel to Hawaii next week for three matches. UCLA will play Utah Valley on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7:45 p.m. PT (4:45 p.m. HT), West Virginia on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:45 p.m. PT (4:45 p.m. HT) and Hawaii on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 p.m. PT (7 p.m. HT).

Michael Sealy is two wins away from 200 for his head coaching career ... the Bruins will be playing in their 1,700th match in program history on Saturday ... UCLA will celebrate its first 100 years with a year-long, university-wide Centennial Celebration. UCLA Athletics has several Centennial Celebration plans and giveaways in store for designated home events, including a set of 13 Centennial pins highlighting each sport, as well as a souvenir mosaic poster that features personal photos submitted by UCLA fans. The fall sport Centennial events are: Football - Sept. 7 vs. San Diego State; Men's Soccer - Sept. 26 vs. UC Irvine; Women's Soccer - Sept. 27 vs. California; Men's Water Polo - Oct. 4 vs. Long Beach State; Women's Volleyball - Oct. 25 vs. Stanford.
SCOUTING THE GEORGIA BULLDOGS
Georgia traveled to Clemson, S.C. last weekend and went 2-1, sweeping Wofford, defeating Kennesaw State in five and losing in three to Clemson. The Bulldogs are hitting .258 as a team, averaging 12.18 kills, 2.09 aces, 9.64 digs and 2.00 blocks per set. Junior Rachel Ritchie (3.27), freshman Kacie Evans (3.25) and sophomore Mallory Hernandez (3.00) each averaged at least three kills per set last weekend. Senior Meghan Donovan (9.27 assists per set) quarterbacked the offense, junior Kendall Glover led the team with 2.73 digs per set and sophomore Sage Naves (1.13) and Evans (1.00) each notched at least a block per set. The Bruins are 4-0 all-time against Georgia, with the last meeting coming on Sept. 9, 2006 in Denver (3-0).
SCOUTING THE TEXAS STATE BOBCATS
Texas State is at 1-3 after spending the first week of the season at home, defeating Liberty in four in the season opener before falling to USC in four and Northern Iowa and Rice in three. The Bobcats are hitting .110 as a team, averaging 10.50 kills, 1.36 aces, 13.43 digs and 0.89 blocks per set. Senior Cheyenne Huskey leads the team with 2.86 kills per set, while freshman Courtney Heiser is second at 2.14 kps. Sophomore Emily Dewalt handles the setting duties and is posting 7.43 assists per set. Senior Micah Dinwiddie is tops with 2.31 digs per set. The Bruins have won both meetings with Texas State, with the last matchup coming on Sept. 8, 2006 in Denver (3-1).
SCOUTING THE LONG BEACH STATE 49ERS
Long Beach State (2-1) came back from dropping its opener at Georgia Tech in four sets with a five-set win over UNC Asheville and a three-set victory against Southern. The 49ers are hitting .268 as a team, averaging 14.92 kills, 1.83 aces, 13.17 digs and 2.29 blocks per set. Sophomore Allison Martinez is tops on the squad with 4.25 kills per set, followed by sophomore Kashauna Williams (3.92) and senior YiZhi Xue (3.08). Sophomore Carly Aigner-Swesey (13.00 assists per set) and freshman Tia Chavira (11.71) have split setting duties. Senior Hailey Harward leads the squad with 3.92 digs per set, while senior Kjersti Norveel is first with 1.33 blocks per set. The Bruins have defeated the 49ers eight straight times to take a 62-19 edge in the series. The teams have met every season since 2013, with UCLA winning in four at the Walter Pyramid last Sept. 13.
