WOLCOTT, Colo. - The Bruins completed their first round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Monday, shooting a 7-over 295 at the Red Sky Golf Club, Fazio Course. UCLA is in 10th place.
Freshman Ty Akabane is the low Bruin after 18 holes after an even-par 72. She made five birdies on No. 2, 11, 13, 15 and 18 and two double bogeys to put her in a tie for 20th. Freshman Emma Spitz is tied for 32nd at 1-over 73. She notched three birdies (No. 1, 10 and 18) and four bogeys. Freshman Emilie Paltrinieri is tied for 41st at 2-over 74. She tallied three birdies on No. 10, 15 and 16 and five bogeys. Senior Mariel Galdiano and freshman Annabel Wilson are both tied for 55th after 4-over 76s. Galdiano opened and closed her round with birdies (No. 1 and 18), adding four bogeys and a double. Wilson notched three birdies on No. 5, 8 and 15, three bogeys and two doubles. Freshman Yuki Yoshihara, playing as an individual, is tied for 32nd (+1, 73), recording four birdies (No. 10, 15, 17 and 18) and five bogeys.
The second round begins on Tuesday for the Bruins at 9:55 a.m. MT/8:55 a.m. PT in the order of Galdiano, Wilson, Paltrinieri, Spitz and Akabane. Yoshihara starts right after the Bruin starting five on the 10th tee.
