UCLA OPENS PAC-12 PLAY AT HOME
The UCLA women's volleyball team begins Pac-12 Conference action this week at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom, hosting No. 25 USC on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and Arizona State on Sunday at 12 p.m. Both matches will be televised on Pac-12 Networks, and will feature live audio and live stats on UCLABruins.com.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Bruins are at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom again next weekend, hosting Washington State on Friday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. and No. 8 Washington on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. Both matches will be televised on Pac-12 Networks, and will feature live audio and live stats on UCLABruins.com.

NEWS AND NOTES
The Bruins, as of Monday, are one of just two teams to have played only three sets in every match this season along with South Carolina State ... junior Mac May has double figures in kills in seven of nine matches and was named to the All-Tournament Team in all three tournaments. She has tallied three double-doubles in her last four matches ... senior Savvy Simo has produced double figures in digs five times and at least 10 kills on four occasions, notching a pair of double-doubles ... sophomore Kelli Barry has double figures in digs in seven matches in a row, averaging 4.52 digs per set ... sophomore Devon Chang has at least one ace in eight of nine contests, and posted a season-best 28 assists at UC Santa Barbara last Wednesday ... Michael Sealy won his 200th career match as a head coach on Sept. 6 against Texas State ... UCLA will celebrate its first 100 years with a year-long, university-wide Centennial Celebration. UCLA Athletics has several Centennial Celebration plans and giveaways in store for designated home events, including a set of 13 Centennial pins highlighting each sport, as well as a souvenir mosaic poster that features personal photos submitted by UCLA fans. The fall sport Centennial events are: Football - Sept. 7 vs. San Diego State; Men's Soccer - Sept. 26 vs. UC Irvine; Women's Soccer - Sept. 27 vs. California; Men's Water Polo - Oct. 4 vs. Long Beach State; Women's Volleyball - Oct. 25 vs. Stanford.

SCOUTING THE USC TROJANS
Since starting the season 2-3, USC has won four of its last five, including three victories by sweep. The Trojans are averaging 12.82 kills, 1.90 aces, 12.82 digs and 2.55 blocks per set, hitting .256 as a team. Senior Khalia Lanier is tops on the team with 4.18 kills per set, while freshman Kalen Owes (3.06) is second. Sophomore Raquel Lazaro quarterbacks the offense and is posting 10.51 assists per set. Senior Jenna Adams leads the squad with 3.11 digs per set, while senior Jasmine Gross is first with 1.38 blocks per set.

THE SERIES: UCLA VS. USC
The Bruins lead the all-time series against the Trojans, 64-59. USC won both matches last season, including in five at Pauley. UCLA is 29-25 at home versus USC. The Bruins won six of eight overall from 2014 to 2017.

SCOUTING THE ARIZONA STATE SUN DEVILS
Arizona State, which hosts Arizona on Thursday, is 8-3 on the season, entering the week with three wins in a row over Georgia Tech, UNLV and Kansas. The Sun Devils are averaging 12.13 kills, 1.58 aces, 16.40 digs and 2.10 blocks per set, hitting .211 as a team. Junior Andrea Mitrovic is first on the team with 3.63 kills per set, while senior Jada Burse is second at 3.20. Among the three who have seen time at setter, senior Callie Jones is first with 6.78 assists per set. Senior Courtney Leffel is first with 5.11 digs per set, while sophomore Avital Jaloba is tops with 0.97 blocks per set.

THE SERIES: UCLA VS. ARIZONA STATE
The Bruins lead the all-time series against the Sun Devils, 75-10, having won eight in a row. UCLA has won 24 of the 28 sets. The Bruins are 39-2 at home versus Arizona State, winning four in a row, all by sweep. UCLA is 67-1 all-time against ASU when winning the opening set.
