TOP-RANKED BRUINS HOST NO. 3 TEXAS, TRAVEL TO SAN DIEGO CLASSIC
The defending National Champion and top-ranked UCLA Bruins host No. 3 Texas on Thursday at Easton Stadium at 6 p.m. The matchup will be live streamed for free, with the link available on the softball schedule page at UCLABruins.com. The Bruins then hop on a bus for the San Diego Classic, facing Mount St. Mary's on Friday at 4:30 p.m., Weber State (4:30 p.m.) and San Diego State (7 p.m.) on Saturday and San Diego on Sunday at 2 p.m. The first three games in San Diego will be played on the campus of SDSU, while Sunday's finale will be at USD.
WHAT'S NEXT?
It will be a busy week for the Bruins next week at Easton Stadium, as they have games on five of seven days, starting on Tuesday, March 3 against St. John's (7 p.m.). UCLA then hosts No. 11 Michigan on Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m., UCF on Friday, March 6 (5:30 p.m.), Boston U. (4:30 p.m.) and No. 18 Minnesota (7 p.m.) on Saturday, March 7 and Cal Poly (12:30 p.m.) on Sunday, March 8 as part of the UCLA/Long Beach State Invitational.
MEGAN FARAIMO NAMED PAC-12 PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Three weeks, three awards for sophomore Megan Faraimo, as she was named Pac-12 Conference Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. It is the second time this season Faraimo has earned Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week accolades, as she picked up the award on Feb. 11. The sophomore was also named NFCA National Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 18.
Faraimo was the winner in three of UCLA's four games at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, striking out 36 in 19 2/3 innings and allowing just two runs and six hits, limiting opponents to an .094 batting average. She had double figures in strikeouts in all three games, fanning 10 in a three-hit complete game over Texas A&M on Friday.
Then on Saturday, Faraimo pitched 13 2/3 innings of relief in two wins, striking out 26. She set a new career high with 16 strikeouts in seven innings of two-hit shutout ball against Wisconsin, adding 10 Ks in 6 2/3 innings with one hit allowed versus No. 7 Florida.
Faraimo leads the Bruins with a 0.73 earned run average, a 9-0 record and 94 strikeouts in 57 2/3 innings. She has limited opponents to a .143 batting average, allowing just four walks and six earned runs. All seven of Faraimo's starts have been complete games, including three shutouts.ย
Faraimo is tied for first in the nation in wins, second in strikeouts and strikeout-to-walk ratio (23.50), tied for fourth in shutouts, 10th in walks allowed per seven innings (0.49), 28th in ERA and 30th in hits allowed per seven innings (3.52).
Faraimo has won seven Pac-12 weekly awards after earning five Freshman of the Week honors last season. Maya Brady was named Pac-12 Player and Freshman of the Week on Feb. 11, as UCLA has won four conference honors in the first three weeks.

**The Bruins, at 15-0, are one of three remaining unbeatens coming into this week's play (Oregon, 14-0; Stony Brook, 5-0).
**UCLA has outscored its opponents 39-1 in the first inning (Wisconsin only team to score), scoring in its first at-bat in 12 of 15 games.
**Redshirt junior Aaliyah Jordan extended her career-best hitting streak to 14 games, recording seven hits in 14 at-bats last weekend. She also has at least one RBI in 11 of 14 games. Jordan has multiple hits and multiple RBI in six contests. The queen of doubles and the national leader in the category with 10 has 45 for her career, which is tied for 10th in UCLA history. Jordan also holds a .421 career average, a .731 slugging and a .498 on base percentage, which are all third in school history.
**Sophomore Megan Faraimo, who had three double-figure strikeout contests last season, already has six in nine games this year, recording at least six strikeouts in every appearance. She struck out a career-best 16 versus Wisconsin on Feb. 22, and has also recorded 14 Ks against Pittsburgh (Feb. 8) and 13 versus No. 5 Florida State (Feb. 16). Faraimo, tied for the national lead in wins with nine, has walked only four on the year.
**Freshman Maya Brady leads the Bruins with six home runs, but her biggest collegiate dinger so far didn't count, as she hit a two-run homer off Olympian Ally Carda in UCLA's exhibition contest versus Team USA on Sunday. Brady has already hit for the home run cycle, having hit two solo homers, two two-run shots, a three-run bomb and a grand slam against USF on Feb. 16. She has hits in 12 of 15 games and RBI in 10 of 15.
**Graduate student Jenavee Peres has hits in seven of her eight games, leaving the yard in four of them. She hit a solo homer in her Bruin debut against No. 9 Alabama on Feb. 14, hit a three-run shot versus No. 15 Georgia on Feb. 15, went 3-for-3 with a two-run bomb against Texas A&M on Feb. 21 and hit a walk-off, two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth versus Wisconsin on Feb. 22.
**Freshman Seneca Curo ended the weekend in Cathedral City on a high note, recording six hits in her last nine at-bats, including a perfect 3-for-3 versus No. 7 Florida. It was a hit against another Sunshine State team on Feb. 16 that jump-started a Bruin comeback, as she led off the top of the seventh with a double versus Florida State, scoring the tying run in the win.
**Junior Delanie Wisz had quite the Bruin debut on Feb. 6 against CSU Bakersfield. The LMU transfer belted a pair of home runs, a two-run shot and a solo bomb, adding a double for a three-hit game. Last weekend, she hit a two-run homer against Texas A&M and posted two hits versus No. 7 Florida.
**Junior Briana Perez has hits in 12 of 15 games, producing multiple hits five times on the year. She has also scored multiple runs in six games and driven in at least two in six. Perez's .388 career average currently puts her in a tie for seventh in UCLA history.
**Junior Holly Azevedo is a perfect 5-0 on the season. Azevedo, who didn't allow a run in her first 14 1/3 innings, has not thrown over 81 pitches in any game this season. She has a remarkable 31-1 record in her career.
**Junior Kinsley Washington had hits in all four games in Cathedral City, going 6-for-14 (.429). She has scored multiple runs in a game eight times and posted multiple hits in six contests. Washington hit her second career homer against Liberty on Feb. 15.

**Senior Jacqui Prober had a career-best three RBI on two hits against Auburn on Sunday ... although it won't count towards the overall statistics, junior Julie Rodriguez made her collegiate pitching debut on Sunday against Team USA, retiring Valerie Arioto on a foul out in her only at-bat in the top of the seventh. For good measure, Rodriguez recorded a single off Monica Abbott in the bottom of the inning ... sophomore Anna Vines and freshman Sara Rusconi Vicinanza each hit their first career homers on Feb. 9 against Pittsburgh.
**The Bruins were the first team to take a lead against Team USA in the Stand Beside Her Tour, going up 3-1 after the first inning.
**The Bruins scored 13 runs in the first inning against Pitt on Feb. 9. It tied for the second-most runs in one inning in UCLA history (13 vs. Cal Poly Pomona in 1992). The record for runs in one inning came last year when UCLA scored 16 versus UC Riverside.
