DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPIONS HOST STACY WINSBERG MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
The defending National Champion UCLA Bruins open the 2020 season at Easton Stadium this weekend, hosting the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament. The Bruins will play six times in four days, starting on Thursday when they host CSU Bakersfield at 7 p.m. After UCLA entertains Cal Poly on Friday at 7 p.m., the Bruins will play doubleheaders on Saturday (vs. Pittsburgh - 11:30 a.m. and CSU Bakersfield - 2 p.m.) and Sunday (vs. Pittsburgh - 9 a.m. and San Diego - 11:30 a.m.). All UCLA games will feature free live audio on UCLABruins.com, with all contests of the tournament featuring live stats at UCLALiveStats.com.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Bruins head to Clearwater, Fla. next weekend for the St. Pete/Clearwater Invitational. UCLA will face No. 1 Alabama on Friday, Feb. 14 (1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET), Liberty (8:30 a.m. PT/11:30 a.m. ET) and No. 16 Georgia (1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET) on Saturday, Feb. 15 and USF (12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. ET) and No. 8 Florida State (4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET) on Sunday, Feb. 16. Redshirt junior Aaliyah Jordan led the Bruins with 20 doubles last season, tying for 10th in the nation. The NFCA All-West Region Second Team and All-Pac-12 First Team honoree also ranked second on the team with 13 homers, 61 RBI, a .711 slugging and a .467 on base percentage. Jordan hit .571 (8-for-14) at the WCWS with three homers and was named to the All-WCWS Team ... the reigning Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Megan Faraimo begins her sophomore season in 2020. Last year, she earned Softball America Third Team All-American, NFCA All-West Region First Team and All-Pac-12 First Team honors after going 16-4 with a 1.41 ERA and 143 strikeouts in 114 innings. Faraimo ranked 18th in the nation in ERA and 21st in strikeouts per seven innings (8.8) ... junior Briana Perez was named a Softball America First Team All-American in 2019, leading the Bruins with 70 runs scored, which also ranked fourth in the nation. She also tied for 13th in the country in hits with 80, as she picked up NFCA All-West Region Second Team, All-Pac-12 First Team and Pac-12 All-Defensive Team honors ... sophomore Kelli Godin earned Softball America Second Team All-American, NFCA All-West Region Second Team, All-Pac-12 First Team and Pac-12 All-Defensive Team honors as a freshman after leading the Bruins with a .418 batting average, 23 stolen bases and a .469 on base percentage. Godin, who led all Pac-12 hitters in average, was 27th in the nation in hitting ... Holly Azevedo begins her junior season with a career record of 26-1. She is coming off a sophomore campaign in which she ranked seventh among Pac-12 pitchers in ERA (2.12), recording seven complete games ... junior Kinsley Washington drove in the NCAA Championship-clinching run to earn a spot on the All-Women's College World Series Team. It capped off an outstanding NCAA Tournament in which she hit .455 (15-for-33) with seven RBI. In Oklahoma City, Washington was 8-for-17 (.471) ... graduate student Jenavee Peres comes to UCLA after spending the 2015, 2016 and 2017 seasons at San Diego State. The Aztecs' record holder in batting average (.409), on base percentage (.466) and slugging (.743) also hit 34 homers and drove in 131. Peres enters the 2020 season on a career-best, 18-game hitting streak dating back to 2017 ... junior Delanie Wisz comes to UCLA after spending the 2018 and 2019 seasons at Loyola Marymount. Wisz was named All-West Coast Conference Second Team in 2019 after leading the Lions with nine homers and tying for first with 34 RBI ... Rachel Garcia and Bubba Nickles will both redshirt with UCLA this season after they were named to the USA Softball Olympic Team in October. The Bruins will face Garcia, Nickles and Bruin alums Ally Carda and Delaney Spaulding on Sunday, Feb. 23 in Cathedral City when UCLA takes on Team USA in the Stand Beside Her Tour.

The Bruins are 7-0 all-time against CSU Bakersfield. The two teams haven't met since the NCAA Tournament at Easton Stadium in 2016, which UCLA won by a score of 7-0. The Bruins are 5-0 at home versus the Roadrunners ... UCLA has won 24 in a row over Cal Poly and holds a 31-3 all-time edge.
