LOS ANGELES - On the evening the defending National Champions unveiled their newest outfield banner, the Bruin bats bashed their Bakersfield counterparts, as No. 4 UCLA recorded a 14-0, five-inning victory on Thursday at Easton Stadium.

Junior Delanie Wisz homered twice in her first game as a Bruin, while freshman Maya Brady also left the yard in her maiden voyage as a collegiate softball player. All told, UCLA had 13 hits from eight different players, as Wisz was 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs, junior Kinsley Washington had two hits and three RBI and junior Briana Perez added two hits and two RBI. Brady also recorded two hits, while redshirt junior Aaliyah Jordan had three runs batted in.ย

In the circle, sophomore Megan Faraimo was nearly un-hittable, striking out 12 of the 19 batters she faced. The lone hit of the game for the Roadrunners was a bunt single in the third inning. Faraimo struck out the side in the fourth and fifth and two apiece in her first three innings, needing just 72 pitches to get through five frames.

The Bruins used a two-out rally and a little help in the bottom of the first to score the game's first run. Jordan drew a walk, Brady doubled to left-center, and on a throwing error by the CSU Bakersfield center fielder, Jordan scampered home with the season's first run.

UCLA sent 11 to the plate in the second inning, scoring eight times. Wisz led off with a double down the left-field line, with walks to Faraimo and freshman Seneca Curo loading the bases. Sophomore Kelli Godin blooped a single to center to plate Wisz to make it 2-0. Washington then cleared the bases with a triple to right-center to bring the lead to 5-0. Perez followed with a bunt single and alertly took second when nobody was covering the base. Jordan then tapped a slow roller to the right side for an out, but both Washington and Perez were able to score on the bleeder to increase the lead to 7-0. One out later, freshman Alyssa Garcia singled up the middle and Wisz connected on UCLA's first home run of the season, a shot to dead center, to make it 9-0.

In the third, junior Julie Rodriguez pinch-hit for Curo and singled to right. With Curo back in to run for Rodriguez, Washington was hit by a pitch and both her and Curo came home on a Perez triple down the right-field line to make it 11-0. After an RBI grounder off the bat of Jordan scored Perez to up the advantage to 12-0, Brady went the opposite way to left-center for a home run to score the Bruins' 13th run.

Wisz would add another homer in the fourth, again taking one to deep center to put the Bruins on top by 14.

The Bruins continue play at the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament on Friday against Cal Poly at 7 p.m. Free live audio will be available on UCLABruins.com.
