Bruins Return to Action at PING/ASU Invitational

PHOENIX - After nearly a month off from competition, the Bruins are back in action this weekend at the PING/ASU Invitational at the Papago Golf Club. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played Friday through Sunday at the par-72, 6,426-yard layout.
The starting fivesome for the Bruins will be junior Phoebe Yue and sophomores Emilie Paltrinieri, Emma Spitz, Annabel Wilson and Yuki Yoshihara. Friday's first round will begin at 8 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Yue, Paltrinieri, Wilson, Yoshihara and Spitz. Live scoring will be available here.
Joining the Bruins and host Arizona State in the 15-team field are Arizona, Baylor, California, Cal Poly, Denver, Michigan, New Mexico, Northwestern, Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State, Stanford and Washington State.
The Bruins, who have two regular-season tournaments left, are playing in their fifth event of the season. UCLA finished second at The Match in the Desert (Jan. 24-25, +15, 591), tied for second at the Lamkin Invitational (Feb. 8-9, +40, 904), fifth at the Sun Devil Winter Classic (Feb. 15-17, +23, 887) and sixth at the Bruin Wave Invitational (March 1-3, +75, 939).
Spitz has placed fourth or better in all four of her events, placing second at the Sun Devil Winter Classic (-6, 210), tied for second at the Lamkin Invitational (-1, 215), tied for third at The Match in the Desert (E, 144) and fourth at the Bruin Wave Invitational (+7, 223). Of her 11 rounds, six have seen her shoot in red numbers, including a season-low, 3-under 69 in her first round at the Sun Devil Classic, where she was under par in all three rounds.
Yoshihara made her season debut at UCLA's last tournament, the Bruin Wave, where she tied for 12th (+16, 232). Paltrinieri has finished in the Top 10 in two of her four tournaments, tying for seventh at The Match (+4, 148) and tying for 10th at the Lamkin (+9, 225). Wilson tied for seventh at The Match (+4, 148) and tied for 11th at the Sun Devil Classic (+3, 219), while Yue tied for 12th at The Match (+8, 152).
