LOS ANGELES – Graduate student Mayyi Mahama of UCLA Track & Field has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for the week of June 3-9.
The thrower competed at the 2024 NCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Eugene, Ore., this past week, throwing in the women's hammer event. Mahama claimed sixth place and a podium finish in her field event, scoring three points for the Bruins with her effort. With the result, Mahama earned First-Team All-America honors, and her mark (68.69m, 225-4) is now second all-time in school history. She was one of 16 All-American Bruins at the conclusion of the national championship meet. UCLA track and field received All-America honors in nine events, with five on the women's side and four for the men to wrap up the 2024 outdoor season.
