Bruins Host Stanford, California This Weekend

LOS ANGELES โ€“ The UCLA Swimming and Diving team is set to host No. 4 Stanford and No. 5 California at the Spieker Aquatics Center this weekend. The Bruins dual Stanford on Friday, Feb. 2 at 2ย p.m. PT and California on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. PT. Live Results will be available for both meets via MeetMobile ($).

The Bruins are 3-1 against conference competition, having beaten Washington State, Arizona, and Utah so far this season.

UCLA has had a successful start to the season and is 5 -1 overall entering the weekend and have finished in the top two at each of this season's invitationals, including a win at the Fresno State invite and a second-place performance at the Art Adamson Invitational. UCLA also boasts an undefeated record at home at Spieker.

In last month's competition against Utah, the Bruins finished with a 190-106 win. UCLA won all but two events in the meet and swept the podium in the 100 and 200 yd. breaststroke as well as the 100-yd. butterfly.

Brooke Schaffer will continue her impressive season this weekend. She was honored with Pac-12 Swimmer of the Week in January for the first time in her career. The graduate student currently holds NCAA B cuts in two events and broke the school record in the 50m free this year. Against Utah, Schaffer won both the 100 yd. and 200 yd. freestyle events and anchored the 400-medley relay, which won the event.

UCLA divers also had a successful showing in January at the Bruin Diving Invitational. Lauren Hallaselkä won the 3-meter event and placed fifth in the 1-meter competition. The freshman was named Pac-12 Diver of the Week for her efforts.
