Campos to Compete at 43rd Curtis Cup in England
August 29, 2024 | Women's Golf
Rising senior Zoe Antoinette Campos on the UCLA women's golf team will begin play at the 43rd Curtis Cup at Sunningdale Golf Club in England on Friday, Aug. 30. The Curtis Cup, taking place Aug. 30-Sept. 1, is considered the most prestigious team trophy for women amateur golfers and is contested biennially by teams representing Great Britain and Ireland and the United States.
Campos, the fourth-ranked golfer on the globe and top-ranked American in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, is the 11th Bruin to compete in the Curtis Cup. She is the first Bruin to appear in the event in six years when Lilia Vu and Mariel Galdiano competed for Team USA in 2018.
The Americans own a 31-8-3 lead in the biennial competition. This is the first Curtis Cup contested at Sunningdale and the 10th in England.
Fans can watch highlights from all three days of the competition on the Golf Channel. Day one and two coverage on Friday and Saturday is aired from 5 a.m.-9 a.m. (PT). Sunday's finale will be televised from 2 a.m.-7:30 a.m. (PT).
Earlier this summer, Campos secured her second title as a member of Team USA at the Arnold Palmer Cup at Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland. The Americans defeated Team International by a mark of 32.5-27.5. Campos went 1-2-1 in her matches with a 1UP foursome victory.
Campos wrapped up another successful season in 2023-24, being named a consensus First Team All-American, an ANNIKA Award Top 10 Finalist and All-Pac-12 First Team selection. The Valencia, Calif. product led the Bruins with four individual medals, which is tied for the most in UCLA single-season history. Campos also paced the squad with a 70.7 scoring average, nine top-10 finishes and 21 rounds under par.
Campos steered the Bruins to their fifth runner-up finish at the 2024 NCAA Championship back in May, going 5-1-0 in match play competition and ousting her opponent in the championship final match with a convincing 4&3 victory.
