Bruins Sweep Lions, Extend Win Streak to Three Games

FORT WORTH, Texas โ The UCLA women's volleyball team was dominant from start-to-finish in its sweep over Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday afternoon, earning its second victory of the day while extending its win streak to three games.

The Bruins continued their excellent form in the attack, hitting over the .300 mark for the third consecutive match. Led by freshman outside hitter Kiki Horne who erupted for a match-high 14 kills at a .355 hitting percentage, UCLA hit .378 as a team with just nine attack errors.

Enjoying her best match in a UCLA uniform was graduate middle blocker Leilani Dodson, hitting .545 with seven kills and six blocks to tally 14 total points. Junior opposite hitter Grayce Olson reached double-digits with 10 kills at a .455 clip.

Making her second straight start at the libero spot was graduate Kate Reilly and she thrived in her role, snuffing out a match-high 19 digs.

UCLA received another outstanding contribution from its freshman class, with Brooklyn Briscoe achieving five kills at a .556 hitting percentage and recording five total blocks.

Reilly initiated the match for UCLA with two service aces, followed by two kills from Olson, igniting an 11-2 run. Reilly added another ace, bringing her total to three in the set, while L. Dodson began to assert her dominance with three blocks and an ace. The Bruins concluded the set with a 4-0 run, highlighted by a kill from Horne, securing a 25-12 victory in the first set.

After achieving a .375 hitting percentage in the first set, UCLA maintained its consistency by posting the same mark in the second frame. Texas A&M-Commerce kept pace with the Bruins early in the set, but consecutive kills from L. Dodson, followed by another from Horne, allowed UCLA to create separation.
