Mara Named UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week

LOS ANGELES โ Sophomore Aday Mara of UCLA Men's Basketball has been selected the Student-Athlete of the Week for competitions held between Jan. 21-27.

The center averaged 15.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.0 blocks in the Bruins' three wins last week. The 7-foot-3 product from Zaragoza, Spain, shot 64.3 percent from the field through all three games (18-for-28). He totaled a career-best 22 points (and five rebounds) in UCLA's 85-83 win last Tuesday night against Wisconsin, shooting 7-for-7 from the field. Mara followed that performance with a 12-point, seven-rebound and five-block game in the Bruins' 65-60 win at Washington on Friday. Three nights later, Mara had his first collegiate double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) in his first start of the season. He had five blocks for the second straight game, making 6 of 11 shots, in UCLA's 82-76 victory at USC.
