March 10, 2025 | Swimming & Diving
LOS ANGELES โ The UCLA diving team is set to compete at the 2025 NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in Federal Way, Washington. The three-day meet will run from March 10 to 12 at the Weyerhaeuser Aquatic Center.
The Bruins' four competing divers include sophomore Molly Brascia, junior Eden Cheng, sophomore Laura Fisher, and senior Maya Salvitti.
UCLA will have three representatives in the 1-meter championship, with Brascia, Cheng, and Salvitti participating in the competition. As for the 3-meter competition, the Bruins will have all four athletes taking part, with Fisher joining Brascia, Cheng, and Salvitti in the event. To conclude the meet the Bruins will have three representatives in the platform competition, with Cheng, Fisher, and Salvitti set to compete.
Results at Zone Championships determine qualification for the NCAA Championships. UCLA has already qualified three swimmers and two relays for NCAAs, and will look to add to that tally on the dive side based on this week's finishes.
This year's Zone E Championships begin with 3-meter on Monday, followed by the platform competition on Tuesday, and 1-meter on Wednesday.
Cheng heads into the week fresh off a fourth-place finish in the platform competition at UCLA's first-ever Big Ten Championships. At last year's NCAA Championships, Cheng finished ninth overall in the platform competition, earning All-American honorable mention honors, and took second at the NCAA Zone E Championships in the event as well.
Fisher performed well at her first NCAA zones last year, taking part in the platform competition. As a freshman she earned a spot in the finals session with a preliminary round score of 231.10 to place 10th. She followed that with a final score of 455.00 to take 13th place overall.
Salvitti is set to participate in her second NCAA Zones after also qualifying for the 1-meter championship during the 2022 season as a freshman.ย ย
As for Brascia,ย this week's Zones will mark the first time either has competed at the event.
