Addisen Fisher Throws First Career No-Hitter at Howard
March 26, 2025 | Softball
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Freshman right-hander Addisen Fisher threw the first no-hitter of her collegiate career to help the No. 7-ranked UCLA softball team to a 10-0 victory in five innings at the Nationals Youth Academy on Wednesday night.
Fisher's performance marked the Bruins' (29-5, 4-1 Big Ten) second no-hitter of the season and the 125th no-no in program history (117th solo no-hitter). Junior Taylor Tinsley no-hit San Diego State in seven innings earlier this month on March 8.
"Our plan was just stick to who I am and the things that make me great," Fisher said. "Being able to trust my defense and my offense to put up runs is also a big part of what helps me play free."
Fisher, the reigning Gatorade National Player of the Year from Bend, Ore., struck out six of the 17 batters she faced and allowed only two baserunners via one walk and one fielding error in her final line. She was highly efficient in her outing, throwing 47 of her 69 total pitches for strikes. Impressively, not a single one of the 15 outs Fisher recorded went out of the infield; every out was either a strikeout or groundout.
Fisher improved her record to 10-0 and dropped her season earned run average to 2.26 after tonight's dominant showing. Fisher is one of 13 pitchers in NCAA DI and the only freshman in the country to sport a flawless record (min. 30 innings pitched and five wins).
Offensively, UCLA scored its 10 runs off 10 hits, four base-on-balls and a Bison (11-17, 5-1 MEAC) fielding error. Junior third baseman Jordan Woolery and senior second baseman Savannah Pola each logged home runs. Woolery's 15th homer of the year in a seven-run fourth inning emptied the bases for her second career grand slam and the first since her freshman year.
Pola finished 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored while freshman shortstop Kaniya Bragg joined her with multiple hits, closing her day 2-for-2.
The Bruins opened their scoring with a two-run, two-out rally in the first inning. Junior first baseman Megan Grant smacked a double into the left center gap to score graduate center fielder Jessica Clements who reached on a bunt single to lead off the ballgame. Bragg then plated home Grant on a single to center field.
Pola added one more to UCLA's tally with a leadoff homer that skirted over the right field fence for her fifth longball of the year, tying her previous season high set in as a freshman in 2022. The senior from Santa Ana paces the squad with a .450 batting average, 50 base hits and 42 runs scored.
UCLA hit around the order and put up a crooked number in the fourth with seven runs to put the game in run-rule territory. Sophomore right fielder Kaitlyn Terry sparked a string of six consecutive Bruin hitters reaching base with a booming double into left-center on a 3-0 count to score pinch runner Lauren Hatch from second. The next two batters, Clements and Pola, drew a walk and bunted for a base hit to load the pillows for Woolery before her grand slam that stretched the lead to 8-0.
After a walk to Grant, pinch hitter Kate Blunt hit her second double of the season with a hot shot down the left field line to extend the lead to 9-0. Hatch, making the second plate appearance of her career, pushed UCLA's final run across with a fielder's choice groundout for her first run batted in as a Bruin.
