No. 25 Rowing Dominates at Triton Invitational
April 26, 2025 | Women's Rowing
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – No. 25-ranked UCLA Rowing closed out its regular season with a dominant day on the water at UC San Diego's Triton Invitational Saturday.
The Bruins captured first-place finishes in all five races in which they competed on Lower Otay Lake in Chula Vista. The 2V4+ and 3V4+ shells competed together to start the day, shooting out to first and second place in the three-boat flight.
"I'm really proud of how far the team has come this season," said interim head coach Anna Thomson. "Each race, we've continued to build speed, and today everyone truly shined, even in less-than-ideal conditions with a strong headwind and jet boat wakes. Each crew found a new gear, and we're excited to carry this momentum forward as we prepare for our first Big Ten Championship in a few weeks."
UCLA placed first in back-to-back 8+ races; the Bruin first and second varsity eights held open water on the Tritons into the finish line. UCLA's 1V4+ finished 23.4 seconds ahead of UCSD to continue its stellar day of racing.
The Bruins closed out the day with their largest margin of victory; UCLA's 3V8+ raced out ahead and finished 24.93 seconds in front of the Tritons in the novice 8+ competition.
