Junior outside hitter Kristee Porter (Tyler, TX/John Tyler HS) of the UCLA Women's Volleyball Team was selected as the UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 9-15.
Porter had back-to-back nights of 30+ kills and 20+ digs, checking in with 35 kills and 26 digs at Arizona on Thursday and 36 kills and 21 digs on Friday at Arizona State as UCLA picked up two crucial conference wins.
Porter now has a nation-leading six 30-kill matches this season (14 for her career) and has had 20-20 nights three times in her career. For the weekend, Porter had 71 kills (an average of 7.10 per game), 47 digs (4.70 per game) and six blocks (1 BS, 5 BA, 0.60/game).
With those 71 kills, Porter now has 1,605 in her career, vaulting her into eighth place on UCLA's all-time list and leaving her just 25 kills shy of Annett Buckner for seventh in UCLA history.
This week's selection is Porter's second this season. She was previously selected Aug. 21-27. In addition, she earned two Student-Athlete of the Week honors in 1999-2000.
