PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - The third-ranked Bruins remain in second place after two rounds at the Stanford Intercollegiate at Poppy Hills Golf Club, gaining one stroke on tournament leader Stanford. UCLA shot a 2-over 286 as a team on Tuesday and is at +6 (574) following 36 holes, with the host Cardinal seven ahead at -1 (567).
A trio of Bruins sit inside the Top 10, led by freshman Patty Tavatanakit, who is one of just six players in the field in red numbers. She is tied for second at 2-under (140) after posting a second-straight, 1-under 70. Tavatanakit made four birdies, including #1 and #18 for the second day in a row, gaining additional strokes on #4 and #9 to go with one bogey and one double. She is tied with four others at -2, four back of Northwestern's Hannah Kim.
Juniors Lilia Vu and Beth Wu are both tied for eighth (+1, 143). Vu recorded a 1-under 70 with four birdies on #4, #7, #8 and #16 and three bogeys, while Wu had a 1-over 72 with three birdies (#4, #5, #13) and four bogeys. Sophomores Mariel Galdiano and Clare Legaspi are each tied for 29th (+6, 148) after both shot 3-over 74s for the second day in a row. Galdiano made back-to-back birdies on #11 and #12, as well as five bogeys, while Legaspi birdied #9 and #12 with five bogeys.
UCLA will be paired with Stanford and third-place Northwestern (+8, 576) on Wednesday, starting at 9:20 a.m. off the first tee. The Bruins will begin with Legaspi, followed by Galdiano, Vu, Wu and Tavatanakit. Live scoring will be available here.
