SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Sophomore Lilia Vu recorded the first victory of her collegiate career on Tuesday, winning the 2017 Bruin Wave Invitational by one shot.
 
As a team, the Bruins came within one shot of first-place Stanford. UCLA shot a final-round, 6-over 298. The Bruins' overall total was 27-over 903.
 
Final-Round Recap
Vu made a pair of birdies in her final round, shooting a 2-over 75 to post an overall score of even-par 219, the only player in the field not to go over par. She gained strokes on #7 and #16 to go with four bogeys. Freshman Mariel Galdiano tied for third at 4-over 223. She was 1-over (74) in her final round, making three birdies on #7, #9 and #11, adding four bogeys.

Junior Erin Choi was the lone player in the field under par for the final round, shooting a 1-under 72. She made a pair of birdies on #7 and #12 and just one bogey. Choi finished solo 13th (+8, 227).

Sophomore Bethany Wu tied for 26th at +15 (234). She shot a 4-over 77 in her final round, making birdies on #8 and #18, four bogeys and a double. Junior Lydia Choi tied for 61st (+26, 245). She had a 7-over 80 in the final round with a pair of birdies on #7 and #9, seven bogeys and a double.

Freshman Clare Legaspi was the top Bruin individual, finishing in sixth at 5-over 224. She was even par (73) in the final round, making a birdie on #13 and one bogey. Junior Joo Seo tied for 58th (+25, 244), making a birdie on #17, nine bogeys and one double for a final-round 83 (+10). Senior Hadas Libman tied for 67th (+29, 248), shooting a 4-over (77). She made three birdies on #2, #5 and #12, five bogeys and one double.
 
Second-Round Recap
The Bruins ended the second round, which was completed Tuesday morning, eight shots back of Stanford after posting a 9-over 301 to put them at +21 (605) after 36 holes.

Vu held a two-shot lead at 2-under 144. She shot a 1-over 74 in round two, making birdies on #11, #13 and #1 to go with four bogeys.

Galdiano was tied for seventh after 36 holes at 3-over 149. She shot a 76 (+3) in round two, posting birdies on #14 and #16, adding three bogeys and a double. Erin Choi was tied for 24th at +9 (155) after a second-round 76 (+3). She made birdies on #5 and #8 to go with three bogeys and a double. Wu was tied for 33rd at +11 (157). She shot a 2-over 75 in her second round, recording birdies on #7, #11 and #15 to go with three bogeys and a double. Lydia Choi shot a non-team scoring 79 (+6) and was tied for 67th after 36 holes (+19, 165). She made a birdie on the seventh, three bogeys and two doubles.

Legaspi was the top Bruin individual after 36 holes at 5-over (151), which was tied for 11th. She shot a 2-over 75 for her second round, making four birdies on #2, #5, #7 and #11 to go with four bogeys and a double. Seo was tied for 49th at 15-over 161 after posting a second-round 80 (+7). Her lone birdie came on #14 to go with eight bogeys. Libman was tied for 78th at +25 (171), notching a second-round 88 (+15). She made one birdie on the eighth, eight bogeys, one double and two triples.

The next tournament for the Bruins will take place at Brentwood Country Club, as UCLA hosts the Gifford Great 8 Match Play on March 13 and 14.
