MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif.,ย -- No. 4 UCLA (5-2) earned its second 5-0 sweep of the season, this time defeating No. 7 Georgia State (6-3), on Sunday inย the inaugural East Meets West Invitational at Manhattan Beach Pier.
UCLA began the day with a straight-set victory on court three as the freshman duo of Savvy Simo and Torrey Van Winden defeated Brooke Weiner and Natalie Wilson, 21-15, 21-19.
The undefeated pair of Elise Zappia and Izzy Carey improved to 7-0 on the year on court four with a straigh-set win over GSU'sย Jessica Fourspring and Olivia Stasevich, 21-15, 21-15.
UCLA's Kamila Tan and Madi Yeomansย won two tight sets on court two, 21-19, 21-19, over the Panthers' LeeAnn Starr and Haley Pa'akaula,ย to clinch the dual win for the Bruins.
On court five, Jordan Anderson and Chanti Holroyd partnered for the first time in 2017 and posted a 21-11, 27-25 win over GSU'sย Georgia Johnson and Sarah Agnew.
Megan McNamara and Nicole McNamara completed the sweep on court one with a thrilling three-set victory over Delaney Rohan and Chelsea Ross, 21-16, 26-28, 15-11.
