NAPA, Calif. -
Freshman Patty Tavatanakit made birdies on her final two holes to come from behind and share medalist honors at the Silverado Showdown, recording her second career victory on Tuesday at the Silverado Country Club.

Trailing playing partner Jennifer Chang of USC by three strokes with two holes to go, Tavatanakit made a birdie on the 17th to get to within two. On the 18th, the Bruin freshman needed a two-shot swing to get into a tie and got just that, making birdie on the par 5, while Chang made bogey, as each finished at 8-under 208. Tavatanakit shot a 4-under 68 for her final round, posting a bogey-free trip with birdies on #8 and #10 to go with her last two holes.

As a team, the Bruins tied for third with Arizona and Stanford at 6-over 870, shooting an even-par 288 on Tuesday and finishing just one stroke out of second (California, +5, 869).

Junior Lilia Vu vaulted into a tie for fifth (-3, 213) thanks to a closing 4-under 68 in her final round. She made six birdies on #2, #3, #6, #15, #16 and #18 to go with two bogeys. Junior Beth Wu tied for 45th (+8, 224), shooting a 3-over 75 on Tuesday with three bogeys. Sophomore Mariel Galdiano tied for 49th (+9, 225), recording a 5-over 77. She made her lone birdie on #14, adding two bogeys and two doubles. Senior Erin Choi finished 87th (+27, 243), shooting 83 (+11) in her final round with seven bogeys and two doubles.

Next up for the Bruins are the Pac-12 Conference Championships, which will take place April 22-24 at Broadmoor Golf Club in Seattle.
