Sophomore Mariel Galdiano shot a career-low round on Monday.
No. 1 Bruins, Galdiano Lead After Round One

SAN FRANCISCO - The top-ranked Bruins are on top of the leaderboard after round one at the NCAA San Francisco Regional, posting an 8-under 280 on Monday at TPC Harding Park. UCLA leads Kent State and Colorado (-4, 284) by four strokes, as only six of the 18 teams are under par through 18 holes.
Sophomore Mariel Galdiano is tied for first following a bogey-free, 6-under 66. She made four birdies in a five-hole stretch on No. 6, 7, 9 and 10, adding birdies on No. 3 and No. 17. Galdiano's 66 was a career-low round as a Bruin. She is tied for first with Stanford's Andrea Lee and Colorado's Brittany Fan.
Freshman Patty Tavatanakit is solo fourth after posting a 4-under 68. She made a pair of eagles on the par-5 4th and par-5 9th, adding birdies on No. 8, 10, 12 and 14 to go with four bogeys.
Junior Lilia Vu is tied for 10th, recording a 1-under 71. She also made eagle on the par-5 9th, adding a birdie on No. 14 and a double bogey. Freshman Clare Legaspi is tied for 52nd (+3, 75). She made three birdies on the fourth, ninth and 12th, four bogeys and a double. Junior Beth Wu is tied for 61st (+4, 76), making four bogeys.
The Bruins begin round two on Tuesday at 9:50 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Wu, Legaspi, Vu, Tavatanakit and Galdiano. Live scoring will be available here.
