NO. 18 UCLA HEADS TO BAY AREA
The 18th-ranked Bruins continue Pac-12 play this week with a two-match road trip in the Bay Area, taking on No. 2 Stanford on Wednesday and California on Friday. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.

UCLA opens its home Pac-12 schedule next weekend at Pauley Pavilion, facing No. 12 Oregon on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. (TV: Pac-12 Networks) and Oregon State on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. (Live Stream: UCLABruins.com).

BRUINS IN THE POLLS
The Bruins fell one spot to 18th in this week's AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll, UCLA is one of nine Pac-12 teams ranked in the Top 25 (No. 2 Stanford, No. 12 Oregon, No. 13 USC, No. 13 Washington, No. 22 Washington State, No. 23 Colorado, No. 24 Arizona and No. 25 Utah), with Oregon State also receiving votes. In addition, No. 15 Cal Poly and No. 21 Baylor are also on the Bruins' schedule.

NEWS AND NOTES
Senior Zana Muno has moved into ninth place in UCLA history in digs, as she is up to 1,222 for her career. Next up on the list are Jenny Evans (8th, 1,234) and Ashley Bowles (7th, 1,269) ... the Bruins had 22 blocks in the Sept. 2 victory at then-No. 19 San Diego, their highest total since Nov. 8, 2007 against Oregon State. This century, UCLA has five matches with at least 20 blocks, with the 22 at USD ranking third on that list ... the Bruins, who have dropped seven of their nine second sets, are 5-0 when winning the third set of a match ... UCLA is 5-0 when leading the match in hitting (1-3 when not) ... the Bruins are 4-0 when leading in blocks ... senior Kyra Rogers, who leads the team with 11 block solos, has at least one in all nine matches, producing at least four blocks in eight of nine contests. Offensively, Rogers has at least six kills in all but one match ... freshman Hawley Harrer has started each of the last six matches, recording a season-best 10 kills at Long Beach State (Sept. 13). She also posted seven kills each at both San Diego and in the first match at Cal Poly (Sept. 6), combining for five aces in those two contests ... sophomore Jenny Mosser has double figures in kills in eight of nine matches, recording a season-best 19 against Gonzaga on Aug. 26. She has five double-doubles and has also served an ace in six of nine contests ... freshman Devon Chang has four double-doubles in her last six matches. She had season highs with 52 assists, 16 digs and six blocks at San Diego ... Muno has double figures in digs in seven matches, recording 65 in her four-year career. She started playing all six rotations last week, combining for five kills and four blocks in two matches ... junior Kylie Miller set new career highs in assists (41) and digs (22) at Utah last Friday, which resulted in her first double-double of the season and seventh of her career. She had a pair of kills in each of the matches last week ... junior Savvy Simo has double figures in digs in six matches in a row, going for at least 20 in three of those. After tying personal bests with 20 digs in back-to-back contests at San Diego and Cal Poly, Simo set a new career high with 25 on Sept. 7 at Cal Poly ... sophomore Mac May tallied the second double-double of her career at Utah, going for 16 kills and 10 digs. She has double figures in kills in seven of nine matches. May also has an ace in six of nine, including two on four occasions ... junior Madeleine Gates has at least eight kills in all of her matches, including double figures in five of them. She has just 16 hitting errors in nine matches, swinging .300 or better in seven of those contests. Defensively, Gates has at least five blocks in five matches, including a career-high 11 at San Diego.

SCOUTING THE STANFORD CARDINAL
Since dropping its only match of the season on Aug. 31 at now top-ranked BYU, Stanford (10-1, 2-0 Pac-12) has won eight in a row, including a pair of victories over then-No. 3 Texas, a win against then-No. 1 Minnesota and another versus then-No. 5 Penn State. The Cardinal swept California and beat Arizona in four in their opening weekend. Stanford is averaging 14.58 kills, 1.29 aces, 12.55 digs and 3.08 blocks per set, hitting .307 as a team. Junior Kathryn Plummer leads the team with 4.49 kills per set, with junior Audriana Fitzmorris (2.97), sophomore Meghan McClure (2.74) and senior Tami Alade (2.06) also averaging at least two kills per set. Junior Jenna Gray handles the setting duties and is posting 12.21 assists per set to go with a team-best 16 aces. Junior Morgan Hentz is tops with 4.79 digs per set, while Alade (1.58), senior Courtney Bowen (1.45) and freshman Holly Campbell (1.22) are each posting at least one block per set.ย 

THE SERIES: UCLA VS. STANFORD
Stanford leads the all-time series with UCLA, 51-40, winning both matchups last season (four sets at UCLA, five at Stanford). The Bruins swept the season series in 2016 (four at UCLA, five at Stanford), but have dropped nine of the last 11 to the Cardinal. Stanford holds a 26-14 edge in matches in Palo Alto.

SCOUTING THE CALIFORNIA GOLDEN BEARS
California (8-5, 0-2) has dropped three in a row, including matchups to Stanford (0-3) and Arizona State (2-3) last week. The Golden Bears are averaging 13.20 kills, 1.33 aces, 14.96 digs and 2.14 blocks per set, hitting .231 as a team. Three players are averaging at least two kills per set, led by sophomore Mima Mirkovic's 3.12 kps. Mirkovic also leads the team with 3.63 digs per set and 15 service aces. Junior Bailee Huizenga is second at 2.55 kps and senior Carmen Annevelink is third at 2.49 kps. Freshman Jade Blevins (5.89 assists pet set) and sophomore Isabel Potter (4.98) share the setting duties. Sophomore Lauren Forte is tops with 1.64 blocks per set.

THE SERIES: UCLA VS. CALIFORNIA
UCLA leads the all-time series with Cal, 63-8, having won seven in a row, including five sweeps. The Bruins have a 28-4 record in Berkeley, having not lost overall to Cal since 2013.
