KOHALA, Hawaii - The 20th-ranked Bruins wrap up the 2019 portion of their 2019-2020 schedule at the Nanea Pac-12 Preview. The three-day, 54-hole tournament runs from Monday through Wednesday at the par-73, 6,372-yard layout.
The starting fivesome for UCLA will be seniors Mariel Galdiano and Clare Legaspi and freshmen Ty Akabane, Emma Spitz and Annabel Wilson. Monday's play will be a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. HT/10:30 a.m. PT.
All 11 conference teams, No. 1 Stanford, No. 3 Arizona State, No. 5 USC, No. 8 Arizona, No. 15 Oregon, California, Colorado, Oregon State, Washington and Washington State, as well as Hawaii, will comprise the 12-team field.
The Bruins will be playing in their fourth fall tournament, as they have finished third at the Golfweek Conference Challenge (-5, 859), seventh at the Stanford Intercollegiate (+15, 867) and 10th at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate (+27, 891).
Spitz has been the top UCLA finisher in all tournaments. She was third at Golfweek (-8, 208), closing with rounds of 5-under 67 and 4-under 68. Spitz tied for 11th at Stanford (-1, 212), shooting a 2-under 69 in the middle round, while placing T-32 at the ANNIKA (+6, 222).
Akabane shared top Bruin honors at Stanford with Spitz after tying for 11th (-1, 212), including a 2-under 69 in round two. She, along with Spitz, will be the two lone Bruins to play in all four fall tournaments. Akabane tied for 34th at Golfweek (+6, 222), shooting a 1-under 71 in the final round and was 57th at the ANNIKA (+22, 238).
Legaspi tied for 36th at the ANNIKA (+7, 223), opening the tournament with a 1-under 71. Wilson tied for 16th at Golfweek (E, 216), shooting back-to-back, 2-under 70s in the last two rounds, while also tying for 32nd at the Stanford Intercollegiate (+5, 218). Galdiano has tied for 39th in each of her first two tournaments, the ANNIKA Intercollegiate (+8, 224) and the Golfweek Challenge (+7, 223).
