PHOENIX - Junior Clare Legaspi and sophomore Patty Tavatanakit each posted 1-over 73s on Friday, as the Bruins are in ninth place as a team after 18 holes at the PING/ASU Invitational at the Papago Golf Course. UCLA shot an 8-over 296 as a team.

Legaspi made two birdies in her round on the sixth and ninth holes to go with three bogeys. Tavatanakit posted a birdie on the second and two bogeys. Both players are tied for 22nd. Senior Beth Wu shot a 3-over 75 and is tied for 42nd, making a pair of birdies on the first and 12th, three bogeys and a double. Sophomore Vera Markevich also posted a 75, notching a pair of birdies on the 10th and 15th and five bogeys. Freshman Phoebe Yue is in 85th after an 87 (+15, 12 bogeys, one triple).

Round two for the Bruins on Saturday starts at 8 a.m. off the first tee in the order of Yue, Markevich, Wu, Legaspi and Tavatanakit.
