LAKE ELMO, Minn. - The Bruins concluded their season-opening tournament on Wednesday at the Royal Golf Club, finishing 10th at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M. UCLA shot a 15-over 303 in its final round to close at 27-over 891.
Freshman Emma Spitz was the top Bruin finisher, tying for 32nd (+6, 222). She shot a 4-over 76 in her final round on a birdie on the first and five bogeys. Senior Clare Legaspi tied for 36th (+7, 223), recording a 3-over 75 on three birdies (No. 15, 18 and 9) and six bogeys. Senior Mariel Galdiano tied for 39th (+8, 224), notching a 4-over 76 on two birdies (No. 10 and 18), three bogeys and a triple. Sophomore Simar Singh was 55th (+20, 236), shooting a 4-over 76 on Wednesday, making two birdies (No. 18 and 1) and six bogeys. Freshman Ty Akabane was 57th (+22, 238), posting three birdies (No. 17, 3 and 9) in a 14-over 86.
Next up for the Bruins is the Golfweek Conference Challenge, which will be played from Monday, Sept. 23 through Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the Red Sky Ranch and Golf Club in Wolcott, Colo.
