Freshmen Lead Dominant Sweep at California

BERKELEY, Calif. – Freshmen Grayce Olson and Cheridyn Leverette both racked up 11.0 points as the UCLA women's volleyball team swept California, 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-10), in Haas Pavilion Sunday afternoon.
In the first start of her career, Leverette posted six kills (.300), a team-high four service aces, eight digs and two block assists. Olson accounted for 10 kills (.471).
As a team, the Bruins (10-9, 4-6 Pac-12) the Bruins hit for 44 kills at a .356 hitting percentage while limiting the Golden Bears (7-13, 0-10 Pac-12) to just 23 kills at .083. California did not record more than eight kills in a set, and in set three, it had just as many attack errors as kills (7).
Outside hitter Iman Ndiaye tallied a team high 13 kills (.286). Tristin Savage had another efficient night in the absence of the Bruins' two starting middle blockers with eight kills (.538) and a team-high five blocks. Matti McKissock and Mokihana Tufono recorded 22 and 15 assists, respectively.
Libero Mackenzie Cole led the Bruins with nine digs.
UCLA closed the third set on a 9-0 scoring run with Leverette at the service line who recorded an ace for the Bruins' 24th point.
Next Up: UCLA travels to the mountain Pac-12 schools next week to face Colorado on Friday, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. and Utah on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. PT. Both contests will be televised by the Pac-12 Networks.
