RECAPPING TUESDAY NIGHT
UCLA recorded its 15th mercy-rule victory of the season with a 9-0 decision in five innings over San Diego earlier this week on Tuesday night. Senior UTIL Savannah Pola led the Bruins' offense with her fourth three-hit performance of the season, finishing the evening 3-for-3 with two doubles and four runs batted in. Pola recorded both of her doubles in an eight-run first inning. UCLA's offense totaled eight hits and drew three walks in the win. Junior INF Jordan Woolery joined Pola with multiple RBIs thanks to a two-RBI single up the middle in the first. The Toreros were limited to just one hit by the Bruins' arms of LHP Kaitlyn Terry and RHP Addisen Fisher. Terry started the game and struck out four of the 13 batters she faced en route to picking up her team-best 10th win of the year.
BRUINS DIG THE LONGBALL
UCLA has totaled 44 home runs through 28 games from 10 different players this season. The Bruins are averaging 1.57 home runs per game, which is their best mark since UCLA's 2010 NCAA title season (1.77 HR/G). That year, the Bruins set the program record for most home runs in a season with 108 over 61 games. UCLA went homerless in its Tuesday night win over San Diego, snapping a 10-game streak with at least one home run. In that 10-game span, UCLA homered 24 times for an average of 2.4 homers per game.
Junior INF Jordan Woolery surpassed her previous season high of 10 homers set during her freshman and sophomore years on March 9 at LMU with her second two-homer performance of the 2025, pushing her season total to 12 in 27 games. Junior UTIL Megan Grant ranks second on the team with 10 home runs. During week five, Grant tied a 12-year-old UCLA record by homering in five straight games to match B.B. Bates' original streak set in 2013.
SHOWING NO MERCY
UCLA's 15 mercy-rule victories this season are its most through the first 28 games in program history. The Bruins have mercy ruled five of their last six opponents, most recently against San Diego in a 9-0 decision over five innings on Tuesday night. UCLA is outscoring its opponents 60-6 over the last six games. On the year, UCLA is averaging 8.25 runs per game while limiting opponents to 2.00. The program record for mercy-rule wins in a season is 21 set in both the 2010 and 2015 seasons.
WOOLERY AMONG THE NATION'S BEST
Junior INF Jordan Woolery ranks second the country with 45 runs batted in and is tied for third with 12 home runs. Her 12 home runs also pace the Big Ten Conference. Woolery owns a .405 batting average (34-for-83) and leads UCLA with 21 extra-base hits and a .964 slugging percentage. The Walnut Creek, Calif. native opened 2025 on a 13-game hitting streak and has recorded a base hit in 24 of 28 games this season. Woolery surpassed her previous season high of 10 homers set during both her freshman and sophomore years on March 9 at LMU after registering her second two-homer performance of the season, pushing her total to 12. Her first two-homer game of 2025 came against Utah on Feb. 28. She has totaled three two-homer games in her career.
GRANT MAKES HISTORY
Junior UTIL Megan Grant tied a 12-year-old UCLA record with a home run in five straight games from March 1-8, matching the original mark set by All-America outfielder B.B. Bates in 2013. Before Grant accomplished the feat, then-redshirt junior Maya Brady came next closest with a homer in four straight games in 2023. Grant's dominant five-game stretch matched her home run output coming into week five, improving her season total to 10.
SECOND CAREER NO-HITTER FOR TINSLEY
Junior RHP Taylor Tinsley recorded the second no-hitter of her career – and her first in seven innings – versus San Diego State at SDSU Softball Stadium on March 8. Tinsley struck out nine batters and allowed just two baserunners – one walk and one via fielding error – in her spectacular outing. Tinsley's first career no-hitter came in her collegiate debut versus CSU Bakersfield at Easton Stadium her freshman season in 2023. Her no-hitter versus the Aztecs came against a San Diego State program that has made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and won the last three Mountain West Conference championships.
The performance marked the 124th total and 116th solo no-hitter in UCLA history, and was the team's first since Megan Faraimo's no-no against No. 3 Florida in February 2023. Tinsley's no-no was also UCLA's first seven-inning no-hitter since March 22, 2020 when then-senior Holly Azevedo no-hit No. 9 Arizona.
SLIMP SHADY
OF Rylee Slimp ranks fourth among NCAA DI freshmen with a .453 batting average (32-for-71). The Georgetown, Texas native is on pace to be the sixth freshman in UCLA history to hit above a .400 clip and the first since Kelli Godin in 2019 (.418). The UCLA freshman batting average record is .457 (84-for-184) set by Stacey Nuveman in 1997. Other UCLA freshmen to have hit above .400 include Aaliyah Jordan (2018, .429 AVG), Stephany LaRosa (2012, .436 AVG) and Natasha Watley (2000, .426 AVG). This season, Slimp leads UCLA with four three-hit performances and has started every game in left field. A keen eye at the plate, Slimp is also tops on the squad with a .547 on-base percentage (13 BB, 2 HBP).
.400's UP
Four players are currently hitting above .400 entering week six of the 2025 season: UTIL Savannah Pola (.462), OF Rylee Slimp (.451), OF Jessica Clements (.436) and INF Jordan Woolery (.405). UCLA has had two or more players hit above .400 for an entire season in 10 campaigns, last occurring in 2020 when Aaliyah Jordan and Briana Perez reached the benchmark. Only once have the Bruins had three players hit above .400, happening in 1995 thanks to Jennifer Brundage, Tanya Harding and Kelly Howard.
GONE FISHIN'
Freshman RHP Addisen Fisher has started her collegiate career with a perfect 9-0 record, ranking second on the team with a 2.27 earned run average and 52.1 innings pitched. Fisher is one of 21 NCAA DI pitchers, and the only freshman in the nation, to own a flawless record (min. 30.0 IP). Fisher, from Bend, Ore., arrived at UCLA as the 2024 Gatorade Softball National Player of the Year and the consensus No. 1-ranked recruit in her class. Fisher is also the first player in program history to hail from the state of Oregon.
DEFENSIVE IMPROVEMENT
UCLA is ranked first in NCAA DI with a .984 fielding percentage, committing 12 errors in 732 total chances. Only five UCLA players have committed an error, and only one of those Bruins has been responsible for multiple errors (Seneca Curo, 7 E). UCLA last finished the year ranked top 10 nationally in fielding percentage and with above .980-plus rate in the 2013 season (.980, 2nd).
This performance is amidst a reshuffling of infield positions due to freshman SS Aleena Garcia's season-ending injury. Beginning March 1 (seven games), junior Jordan Woolery moved from first base to third base, freshman Kaniya Bragg moved from third base to shortstop and junior Megan Grant moved from right field/designated player to first base as a result of the loss of Garcia.
PURDUE SERIES HISTORY
UCLA leads the all-time series versus Purdue, 3-1, dating back to 2002. The two programs most recently met 10 years ago on Feb. 7, 2015, which resulted in a 9-3 Bruins' win. UCLA's only loss in the series came in February 2009 (L, 2-1) in Kelly Inouye-Perez's third year as head coach.
KT LEADS THE STAFF
Sophomore LHP Kaitlyn Terry leads UCLA's pitching staff with 10 wins, a 1.37 earned run average, 80 strikeouts, 66.1 innings pitched, a .180 opponent batting average, five complete games and a 0.81 WHIP. Terry has now allowed an earned run her last 9.1 innings, dating back to Thursday, March 6 versus LMU. Terry's standout performance of the season thus far came against No. 22 Missouri on Feb. 20 at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic when she struck out a career-high 14 batters and allowed just one run in a complete-game victory. She has three career double-digit strikeout performances.
Last year, Terry was named the 2024 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, clinching UCLA's fifth such honor over the past seven seasons. Terry became the seventh freshman in UCLA history to win 20-plus games (21-3) in her debut season and first since Garcia in 2017. Terry led last season's staff with 182.0 innings pitched and recorded a 2.38 ERA, 161 strikeouts and .232 opponent batting average.

INF Kaniya Bragg and OF Rylee Slimp have started in every game; Bragg has started 21 games at third base and seven at shortstop while Slimp has started all 28 in left field. Together, the five freshmen have contributed to 36.3 percent of UCLA's total hit production (94 of the team's 259 total hits). As a unit, they are hitting for a .357 batting average (94-for-263).
CLEMENTS KEEPS CLIMBING
Graduate transfer outfielder Jessica Clements ranks ninth among active NCAA DI players in career hits (226) and career batting average (.415). She leads UCLA with two three-hit performances and ranks second with six total multi-hit games. Clements was a two-time Big West Batting Champion in 2022 and 2024 while at Cal Poly for three seasons. She finished her Mustang career as the leading hitter in program history with a .411 batting average (185-for-450).
WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES
Senior UTIL Savannah Pola has shown drastic improvement comparing the first 28 games of this season to last's. Pola leads UCLA with a blistering .462 batting average (42-for-91), 11 doubles and 14 multi-hit games after starting last year with a .200 clip (12-for-60). Pola entered conference play a year ago with a .190 batting average (8-for-42) with one extra-base hit through 17 games.
RIGOROUS NON-CONFERENCE SLATE
UCLA completed its tournament season schedule with an 18-4 record while going 7-3 against top-25 opponents. The Bruins' seven top-25 wins were the most in the country through the first month of the season, defeating No. 9 Oklahoma State, No. 23 Kentucky, No. 14 Alabama, No. 22 Missouri, No. 16 Nebraska, No. 5 Tennessee and No. 10 Arkansas. All four of the Bruins' losses in the first month were by one run, and three of those losses were decided in the seventh inning or later.
CAREER FIRSTS
After spending their previous year(s) exclusively as pinch runners on the UCLA roster, senior Kate Blunt, junior Rylee Pinedo and sophomore Liesl Osteen have all recorded their first career hits, runs batted in and at-bats in the first month of the 2025 season. Additionally, Pinedo and Osteen have both made their first career start(s) in 2025. For Osteen, she recorded her first career hit and RBI in her first-ever at-bat versus Charlotte at the Clearwater Invitational on Feb. 14. Pinedo also singled and drove in a run in her first-ever plate appearance versus Utah at the Judi Garman Classic on Feb. 28. The performance earned Pinedo her first career start in the night cap at Cal State Fullerton. Blunt recorded a hit in her first career at-bat versus Weber State and reached base in all three plate appearances. She recorded an RBI single later in the game as well.
A HISTORIC DAY AT THE BALLPARK
UCLA recorded 26 runs off 21 hits, seven walks, two hit-by-pitches and two errors in a five-inning affair versus Weber State on March 1 at Anderson Family Field in Fullerton, Calif. The Bruins' 26 runs rank second-most in a single game in program history, trailing the 27-run tally set in February 2008 versus Santa Clara. Freshman C Sofia Mujica matched a UCLA single-game record with eight runs batted in thanks to a grand slam, three-run homer and sacrifice fly. Mujica's RBI total tied Amanda Kamekona's original mark which was set in the same Santa Clara contest. Additionally, juniors Jordan Woolery and Megan Grant each recorded five RBI while senior Savannah Pola set new career highs for hits (4) and runs scored (4).
WHO'S BACK?
UCLA returns 16 players from last season's squad. Top returning contributors include 2024 All-Pac-12 First Team honorees Megan Grant, Kaitlyn Terry, Taylor Tinsley and Jordan Woolery. Grant led all 2025 returners with a .335 batting average (56-for-167), 20 extra-base hits (11 doubles, eight homers) and 41 runs batted in last season while Woolery concluded the year with 10 home runs. Terry and Tinsley pitched 329.1 of UCLA's total 355.0 total innings in 2024. The two underclassmen steered UCLA back to the WCWS after a one-year absence with a dominant postseason performance in the circle. In eight NCAA Tournament games, Terry and Tinsley pitched two shutouts, allowed just one run in four different contests and totaled a 1.71 earned run average over 49.0 innings.
WELCOME TO WESTWOOD

She graduated from Cal Poly as the leading hitter in program history with a career .411 batting average and started all 135 games played, including 95 in center field.
UCLA CELEBRATES 50th ANNIVERSARY
The Bruins are celebrating their 50th anniversary as an organized collegiate softball program in 2025. UCLA's first season was in 1975 under the umbrella of the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW). The sport was adopted by the NCAA seven years later in 1982. No program has won more national championships (13) or made more Women's College World Series (WCWS) appearances (32) than UCLA.
In fact, UCLA is the only program in softball history to have won a national championship in all five full decades of the sport's existence. The Bruins won the first NCAA Softball Championship in 1982 and were the first program to repeat titles (1984-85) and three-peat (1988-90). The Bruins boast 132 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America honors, four Honda Cup awards and 12 Honda Sport Awards – all three good for the most in NCAA softball.
FRESHMEN FILLING IN
At least three freshmen have started in UCLA's batting lineup for all 22 games this season. INF Kaniya Bragg and OF Rylee Slimp have started in every game; Bragg has started 21 games at third base and one at shortstop while Slimp has started all 22 in left field. Together, the five freshmen have contributed to 36.7 percent of UCLA's total hit production (76 of the team's 207 total hits). As a unit, they are hitting for a .354 batting average (76-for-215).
Slimp leads all UCLA freshmen and ranks second on the team with a .429 batting average (24-for-56). The Georgetown, Texas native is coming off a pair of three-hit performances at the Judi Garman Classic last week and leads UCLA with three total three-hit games this season. A keen eye at the plate, Slimp is also tops on the squad with a .529 on-base percentage (10 BB, 2 HBP).
CLEMENTS KEEPS CLIMBING
Graduate transfer outfielder Jessica Clements ranks among the nation's active career leaders in base hits (9th, 217) and batting average (13th, .413). Clements leads UCLA and is tied for 10th in NCAA DI this season with 32 base hits. Additionally, Clements ranks second on the team with 10 multi-hit games in 2025 and leads UCLA career-wise with 62 such performances over her four years. Clements' 26 runs scored are also tops on the team and tied for the Big Ten Conference lead.
Clements recorded the 200th hit of her career with a bunt single versus Virginia at the Clearwater Invitational on Feb. 16.

Woolery opened 2024 hitting a respectable .322 batting average, but this year leads the team with a .446 mark.
BRUINS DIG THE LONGBALL
UCLA has totaled 33 home runs through 22 games from 10 different players this season. The Bruins are averaging 1.50 home runs per game, which is their best mark since UCLA's 2010 NCAA title season (1.77 HR/G). That year, the Bruins set the program record for most home runs in a season with 108 over 61 games.
Junior INF Jordan Woolery leads UCLA with nine home runs this season and is already one blast shy of tying her previous season-best mark of 10 set in both her freshman and sophomore years. Junior utility Megan Grant is second on the team in homers with seven of her 16 hits this year leaving the yard. Graduate outfielder Jessica Clements, who homered just six times over her previous three seasons at Cal Poly, hit her two home runs this season on back-to-back days at the Judi Garman Classic on Feb. 27-28. All four hitting freshmen -- Kaniya Bragg, Maggie Daniel, Aleena Garcia and Sofia Mujica -- have logged their first career homers.
DEFENSIVE IMPROVEMENT

The performance earned Pinedo her first career start in the night cap at Cal State Fullerton. Blunt recorded a hit in her first-career at-bat versus Weber State and reached base in all three plate appearances. She recorded an RBI single later in the game as well.
RETIRING JANICE PARKS' No. 14
UCLA softball will retire 1989 Honda Award winner and two-time NCAA Champion Janice Parks' No. 14 jersey on March 14 prior to first pitch versus Purdue. Parks' No. 14 will be just the seventh number retired in the program's rich history, joining Dot Richardson (No. 1), Gina Vecchione (No. 2), Sue Enquist (No. 6), Lisa Longaker (No. 9), Lisa Fernandez (No. 16) and Debbie Doom (No. 17). Parks, one of the most talented corner infielders in UCLA history, was a three-time NFCA First Team All-American and All-WCWS Team selection in her four years at UCLA from 1986-89. Parks, who led UCLA in runs batted in during both of its 1988 and 1989 NCAA title seasons, became the 13th member of the UCLA softball program to be inducted into the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015. She still owns the program record for career triples with 21. After graduating from UCLA, Parks represented Puerto Rico at the first-ever Olympic games sponsoring softball in Atlanta in 1996.

Together, the five freshmen have contributed to 36.3 percent of UCLA's total hit production (94 of the team's 259 total hits). As a unit, they are hitting for a .357 batting average (94-for-263).
CLEMENTS KEEPS CLIMBING

27-28. RETIRING JANICE PARKS' No. 14
UCLA softball will retire 1989 Honda Award winner and two-time NCAA Champion Janice Parks' No. 14 jersey on March 14 prior to first pitch versus Purdue.
