April 01, 2026 | Women's Basketball
LOS ANGELES – Senior Lauren Betts of UCLA Women's Basketball has been selected the Student-Athlete of the Week presented by La Victoria for athletic competitions held between March 24-30.
Betts was named the Sacramento 2 Regional Most Outstanding Player for leading the No. 1-seed Bruins back to the Final Four for the second-consecutive season. The Bruin center also became UCLA's all-time leading shot blocker, amassing 230 rejections over her three seasons in Westwood to surpass Monique Billings' record (228 BLK, 2014-18). The elder Betts had 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and five blocks against No. 4 Minnesota in the Sweet 16. She followed that with a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double to lift UCLA past No. 3 Duke in the Elite 8; Betts added five more blocks against the Blue Devils for 10 total rejections in Sacramento. She shot 69.6 percent from the field (16-23 FG) in UCLA's two wins that advanced them back to the national semifinal; the center leads active players in the NCAA tournament with 96 points scored.
Betts secures her 14th-career UCLA student-athlete of the week award.
