
Bruins Finish T-6 in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS - The fourth-ranked Bruins vaulted six spots on Tuesday to finish in a tie for sixth at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at the English Turn Golf and Country Club. UCLA shot a 2-over 290 as a team and ended up at +17 (881).
Freshman Lilia Vu was the top finisher for the Bruins at T-11, shooting a 1-under 215. Vu had an even-par 72 on Tuesday. Starting on the 10th hole, she had birdies on the 11th, 17th, third and fourth to go with two bogeys and a double bogey.
The top Bruin scorer in the final round was junior Bronte Law, who fired a 3-under 69 to finish the tournament in a tie for 21st (+3, 219). Opening on the 11th, she made eagle on the 16th and had birdies on the first and second, with a bogey on the fifth her lone blemish on the scorecard.
Freshman Bethany Wu, who was named to the 2016 USA Curtis Cup Team earlier Tuesday, finished T-36 in the tournament at +7 (223). Starting on the 10th, she shot a non-team scoring 5-over 77 in her final round, making birdies on the 13th and third to go with seven bogeys. Senior Louise Ridderström shot a 1-over 73 on Tuesday to place in a tie for 48th (+9, 225). She birdied her opening hole, the 11th, along with the 17th, to go with three bogeys.
Sophomore Erin Choi, playing as an individual, shot a 1-under 71 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 60th (+13, 229). She birdied her first hole, the 18th, and also made birdies on the fourth, sixth, eighth, 10th and 14th, adding five bogeys. Sophomore Lydia Choi had a 4-over 76 in her final round to place 79th (+21, 237). She birdied the ninth hole to go with five bogeys.
The Bruins have a quick turnaround, as they host the Bruin Wave Invitational at the San Luis Obispo Country Club in San Luis Obispo, Calif. on Monday, Feb. 29 and Tuesday, March 1.
