SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -
The top-ranked Bruins, winners of four straight tournaments, look to make it five in a row this week, co-hosting the Bruin Wave Invitational at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. The three-round, two-day tournament will be played on Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 6,323-yard layout.

The scoring fivesome for the Bruins will feature seniors Erin Choi and Joo Seo, juniors Lilia Vu and Beth Wu and sophomore Mariel Galdiano. Freshman Vera Markevich will be playing as an individual. Monday's action will feature 36 holes and a shotgun start at 8 a.m., while Tuesday's play will be 18 holes off split tees, beginning at 7:50 a.m. Live scoring will be available here.

Joining the Bruins and co-host #45 Pepperdine in the 16-team field are #4 Stanford, #10 USC, #18 Washington, #19 Colorado, #43 California, #49 San Jose State, Cal Poly, CSUN, Fresno State, Hawai'i, New Mexico State, Sacramento State, San Diego State and San Francisco.

The Bruins have won four consecutive tournaments, including their spring season lid-lifter, the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge (Feb. 11-13). UCLA, which was tied heading into the final round, finished at +15 (867), four strokes better than Alabama. The Bruins won their final three events of the fall, the Battle at the Beach (-13, 839, Nov. 3-5), the Nanea Pac-12 Preview (-20, 564, Oct. 23-24) and the Stanford Intercollegiate (-3, 849, Oct. 16-18). UCLA has been under par in four of its five tournaments and in seven of its 14 rounds. The Bruins as a team recorded a pair of under-par rounds apiece at the Battle, at Nanea and the season-opening ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Oct. 1-3), where they finished second (-4, 860).

Vu is coming off her second straight victory and sixth of her career, posting her second comeback win in a row at the Regional Challenge. The junior, who was five shots back going into the final round, tied for the low round of the day, playing bogey-free golf to share medalist honors at 1-under 212. Nine of her 11 rounds have been under par, including all three at the Battle at the Beach, where she won (-8, 205) thanks to a closing-round, 4-under 67. Vu was also second at Nanea (-7, 139) and tied for sixth at Stanford (E, 213). Six of her 11 rounds have been in the 60s.

Wu has recorded four Top 10s in a row, placing fifth at the Regional Challenge (+2, 215). She was also fourth at Nanea (-4, 142) and tied for sixth at both the BATB (-3, 210) and Stanford (E, 213). Wu, who is a cumulative 4-under on the year, including a combined 8-under in her second and third rounds, has six under-par rounds out of her 14, including a pair in the 60s. She closed the Battle at the Beach with a 5-under 66 and shot a final-round, 5-under 68 at Nanea.

Galdiano recorded a season-best, T-5 finish at Nanea (-2, 144) and has placed 11th in three other events (ANNIKA, -1, 215; Stanford, +3, 216; BATB, E, 213). Of her six under-par rounds, three have come in her round threes, posting 3-under totals in each of the tournaments where she finished 11th, giving her a total of 9-under cumulative in her third rounds.

Choi will be playing in her third tournament of 2017-2018, having tied for 54th (+21, 237) at the UC Irvine Invitational (Oct. 30-31) and tied for 79th (+24, 237) at the Regional Challenge. Seo has played in three events, recording a season-best, T-14 showing at the UCI Invite (+6, 222). She also was 59th at the ANNIKA (+25, 241) and tied for 76th (+22, 235) at the NGRC. Markevich made her collegiate debut at the Battle at the Beach (+26, 239), placing 80th. The Bruins will be without sophomore Clare Legaspi and freshman Patty Tavatanakit, who competed in the Asia-Pacific Women's Amateur Championship in Singapore (Feb. 21-24).
