Senior forward McKinley Tennyson Jr. (Indianapolis, IN/North Central HS) of the UCLA Men's Soccer Team was selected as the UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 6-12.
Tennyson led UCLA to two crucial victories this weekend, a 1-0 double overtime win over No. 1 Stanford and a 3-1 win over California. The victories were key in UCLA's advancement to the NCAA Tournament.
Against Stanford Nov. 10, Tennyson drew a foul and scored on the ensuing penalty kick in double overtime to upset the top-ranked Cardinal. Against Cal Nov. 12, he recorded his 100th career point on an assist on the game-winning goal and then scored his team and conference-leading 15th goal to give UCLA a 3-1 lead it would not vanquish. His goal was the 40th of his career, moving him into 10th place in UCLA's career record books. He also moved into ninth place in career points with 102.
The Student-Athlete of the Week honors is Tennyson's first of the season and third of his career. He earned Student-Athlete of the Week honors twice last year.
