Sophomore Jean-Julien Rojer (Curacao, Netherlands-Antilles/All Star Academy) of the UCLA Men's Tennis Team was selected as the UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 12-19.
Rojer led UCLA to its seventh USTA/ITA National Team Indoor title with a 4-2 victory over top-ranked and defending NCAA champion Stanford. Prior to the championship match, the Cardinal had not given up a point during the entire tournament.
Rojer upset 2000 NCAA singles champion and fifth-ranked Alex Kim, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, to clinch the team crown for UCLA. Rojer also teamed with Jean-Noel Grinda to defeat Stanford's No. 1 doubles team of Kim/K.J. Hippensteel, 8-5, to help give the Bruins the doubles point.
This is Rojer's first student-athlete of the week honor of his career.
