    • Senior forward Maylana Martin (Perris, Calif./Perris HS) of the women's basketball team was selected the MET-Rx UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 6-12.

    This past week, Martin averaged 20.5 points and 15.0 rebounds while leading eighth-ranked UCLA to wins over San Diego State and Pepperdine.

    Against San Diego State on Thursday, Martin recorded a career-high 19 rebounds (including 10 offensive boards) and scored 22 points to lead UCLA to an 82-61 home victory. Martin also had three blocks and three steals.

    Against Pepperdine on Saturday, Martin recorded another double-double (her second straight and third this season) with 21 points and 11 rebounds. She also added three assists, three blocks and two steals in the Bruins' 86-67 win. Martin scored 17 of her game-high 21 points in the second half to surge the Bruins past the Waves, who trailed by just two at the half.

    With her first basket against Pepperdine, Martin moved past Ann Meyers into fifth place in UCLA's career scoring list and now has a total of 1,705 career points.

    Martin has scored in double figures in 36 straight games and in 89 of her 93 career games and has scored 20+ points in 37 times.

    Martin leads the Bruins in scoring (18.3 ppg), rebounding (10.7), blocks (10) and steals (15).
