Chiles Named UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week

LOS ANGELES โ Junior Jordan Chiles of UCLA Gymnastics has been selected the Student-Athlete of the Week for competitions held between Jan. 28-Feb. 3.

Chiles scored a perfect 10 on floor exercise on the final routine of the meet to clinch a remarkable comeback victory over No. 5 Michigan State. The sixth-ranked Bruins were trailing by seven-tenths of a point going into the last rotation and came through with a floor set for the ages, scoring a national-best 49.800 (No. 4 floor score in school history) to secure the improbable win. Chiles shook off an illness earlier in the week to score season-highs on vault (9.925), beam (9.850) and floor (10.0). Her 10 on floor was her 10th career perfect 10 (five each on bars and floor), moving her into No. 5 in school history for career 10s. Only two other Bruins in school history have more floor 10s than Chiles - Jamie Dantzscher (17) and Katelyn Ohashi (9). Chiles now owns two of the nation's three 10s this season, having scored a 10 on bars on Jan. 25.ย She is averaging 9.930 on floor, with four consecutive victories.
