Tinsley Named UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week

LOS ANGELES โ Junior Taylor Tinsley of UCLA Softball has been selected the Student-Athlete of the Week for competitions held between Feb. 4-10.

No. 5 UCLA softball's Taylor Tinsley tied a program Opening Day record with 14 strikeouts in her win versus IU Indianapolis at Easton Stadium on Friday night. Tinsley's 14 strikeouts matched Debbie Doom, a National Softball and UCLA Athletic Hall of Famer, who originally set the mark in 1983. Tinsley was extremely efficient in her 5.0-inning outing, throwing 54 of her 61 pitches for strikes (only seven balls). She faced three above the minimum through the 5.0 innings and allowed just one hit (18 total batters faced). Tinsley struck out the side twice and recorded two other three-strikeout innings.
