Junior Earl Watson (Kansas City, KS/Washington HS) of the men's basketball team was selected the MET-Rx UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Mar. 13-19. Watson scored 17 points and notched a school-record 16 assists in UCLA's 105-70 win over Maryland in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. His 16 assists were also an NCAA Midwest Region record. Watson finished the game with zero turnovers in 26 minutes of play. He also scored 14 of UCLA's first 16 points of the second half, draining four three-point field goals in that span. In UCLA's 65-57 first-round victory over Ball State, Watson had 12 assists, four steals, four points and three rebounds. In the Bruins' two games over the weekend, Watson finished with 28 assists, 21 points and just six turnovers. He has led UCLA's third Sweet 16 berth in the last four years.
