  • Senior Brandon Taliaferro (San Clemente, CA/San Clemente HS) of the men's volleyball team and sophomore Elaine Zivich (Lompoc, CA/Cabrillo HS) of the women's water polo team were selected the MET-Rx UCLA Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of May 1-7 after leading their teams to national championships.

    Taliaferro was voted the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after guiding his Bruins to their 18th NCAA Volleyball Championship. The four-time All-American recorded 66 set assists in UCLA's three-set victory over Ohio State in the title match and 52 in the semifinal sweep over Penn State. He also recorded eight kills, seven digs and three aces in the title match and four aces, four kills and four digs in the semis.

    Zivich was selected the tournament MVP after leading UCLA to its fourth national collegiate championship with an 11-4 victory over USC. Zivich notched 10 goals in the tournament, including four in the Bruins' 5-3 semifinal win over California. The All-American attacker earned first-team All-National Collegiate Tournament honors for the second consecutive year.
