    • Senior Jess Strutzel (Huntington Beach, CA/Huntington Beach HS) of the men's track and field team was selected the MET-Rx UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of May 8-14.

    Strutzel ran the nation's fastest 800 time of 2000, winning the race at the Occidental Invitational in 1:46.03. The time was his season best and an NCAA automatic mark and also ranks amongst the Top 15 800m marks in the world this year.

    Strutzel owns the school record in the 800 (1:45.81) and won the event at the 2000 NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
