Tinsley Named Student-Athlete of the Week, Presented by Ready

LOS ANGELES – Sophomore pitcher Taylor Tinsley of UCLA Softball has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for the week of Feb. 19-25.
Tinsley allowed just two earned runs across three complete-game performances (22.0 IP) to help the No. 19 UCLA softball team to three wins at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic this week. Among all the pitchers competing at the Mary Nutter (30 teams participating), Tinsley ranked first in innings pitched (22.0), tied for first in strikeouts (30) and second in ERA (0.64), opponent average (.242), earned runs allowed (2) and runs allowed (7). In a 1-0 win over No. 24 Northwestern, Tinsley struck out nine batters and allowed just three hits in the second seven-inning, complete-game shutout of her career. The next day against Baylor, she recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts and did not allow an earned run in another complete game. She ended the week by taking down No. 5 Tennessee, 6-2, with nine strikeouts in a complete game on Sunday.
Tinsley secures her first-career UCLA student-athlete of the week award.
