    • Sophomore Amanda Freed (Cypress, CA/Pacifica HS) of the softball team was selected the MET-Rx UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of May 15-21.

    Freed was named the Most Outstanding Player at the NCAA Regional this past weekend, leading the Bruins to an undefeated record at the tournament and a berth in the College World Series. Freed recorded four wins in UCLA?s four games, allowing just one run in 21 innings pitched for an ERA of 0.33. She also had 23 strikeouts and pitched six innings of one-hit ball in UCLA?s 7-1 win over Florida State in the championship game. Freed was also dangerous at the plate, hitting .333 with five hits (three doubles), three runs scored and one RBI.

    This is Freed?s second selection this season as the MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week. She was previously selected for the week of Apr. 3-9.
