McHenry Named Student-Athlete of the Week, Presented by Ready

LOS ANGELES – Redshirt senior Merrick McHenry of UCLA men's volleyball has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for the week of April 29-May 5.
The middle blocker's outstanding performance during the week helped UCLA win the program's 21st NCAA Championship in men's volleyball, and record the first back-to-back title efforts since the 1995 and 1996 campaigns. The redshirt senior hit over .706 in the three Bruin wins, posting a total of 27 kills, against just three errors, on 34 attacks. He added 14 blocks, including team-high totals of three in a quarterfinal win over Fort Valley State and six in the semifinal victory against UC Irvine. McHenry connected for kills on 10 of 11 attacks for a .818 mark in the championship win over Long Beach and was credited with five blocks to go with five digs, several of the spectacular variety.
McHenry, who was voted to the 2024 NCAA Men's Volleyball All-Tournament Team, concludes his Bruin career as the school's all-time leader in hitting percentage (.519) and block solos (48). He also posted a school record .585 hitting percentage during the course of the 2024 season. McHenry finished second on the school career list in total blocks.
McHenry secures his third-career UCLA student-athlete of the week award.
