Palacios Named Student-Athlete of the Week, Presented by Ready

LOS ANGELES – Senior Sharlize Palacios of UCLA Softball has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for the week of May 13-19.
Palacios went 4-for-9 at the plate with three home runs and nine runs batted in during NCAA Regional weekend to help the No. 6 seed UCLA softball team (40-10) advance to the Super Regional round. The catcher went 3-for-3 with two home runs – both to opposite field (right field) – against Grand Canyon in game one. The two bombs marked the 21st multi-homer game in UCLA softball postseason history. Palacios now has eight career multi-homer performances, including three this season. In the Regional final versus Grand Canyon on Sunday, Palacios set the tone with a three-run homer on the fifth pitch of the game to push the Bruins' first runs across. Palacios now has nine homers in her last 16 games. Six of those nine homers either tied up the game or gave UCLA the lead.
Palacios secures her second-career UCLA student-athlete of the week award, her second of this campaign.
