Brady Named Student-Athlete of the Week, Presented by Ready
May 28, 2024 | Softball, Bruin Athletics
LOS ANGELES โ Redshirt senior shortstop Maya Brady of UCLA Softball has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, for the week of May 20-26.
ย
Brady went 5-for-7 with two home runs, a double, three RBI and five runs scored to help the sixth-seeded UCLA softball team to a Super Regional sweep of 11th-seeded Georgia last week. Brady's performance powered the Bruins to their record 32nd Women's College World Series appearance. Brady set the tone in game one of Super Regionals on Thursday with her second leadoff homer of the season. UCLA never looked back, cruising to an 8-0 victory in six innings for the program's third-ever mercy-rule victory in Super Regionals and first since the 2010 season. She doubled in her next at-bat and homered one more time in the game to finish the evening 3-for-4 with a career-high-tying 10 total bases.
ย
Brady now has 10 multi-homer games in her career, including two in the postseason. Brady went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases in the Super Regional-clinching victory on Friday. Her batting average on the season improved to a team-leading .431 mark.
ย
Brady secures her fourth-career UCLA student-athlete of the week award, her second of this campaign.
